I have recently become aware of a threat to the freedom and rights of all Greene County residents. Zoning or land-use controls are being proposed for Greene County. The origin of this threat is the Greene County Economic Development Corporation (GCEDC), supported by our tax dollars, and by some local political leaders as well as some influential citizens. Their plans envision a county like many of our neighboring counties where the individual rights and freedoms of the people have been replaced with government control of people's lives and property. They claim that zoning and control are necessary for economic growth even though surrounding counties that have been victimized by this misfortune plainly have not benefited. Visit our website and view Owen County’s law. Our elected officials are being lobbied to enact this Socialist misery on us and may well do so. I will not accept this for my children or me and consider my property as my own and my family's, and not belonging to the government. If you also feel this way, please join our growing army of voters for only the voters can stop it and replace elected officials with those who value both their rights and yours.
